The road from Santa Margherita follows the promontory with views over the Gulf of Paradiso at every turn. Your driver takes you to the meeting point above the village — Portofino is pedestrian-only — from where you descend on foot to the harbour. The piazzetta, the coloured houses reflected in the still water, the boats at their moorings.

Free time to explore at your own pace: the Caruggi — the narrow stepped lanes behind the harbour — leading up to the church of San Giorgio and the Castello Brown at the tip of the promontory. The boutiques along the waterfront. A drink or gelato in the piazzetta.
